I am an Iranian-British poet, prose writer, and educator. I have a PhD in Literature and Creative Writing, and I have been teaching in Higher Education in the UK since 2018. I also offer private tuition in Persian and creative writing, and offer Tarot readings.
My debut short story collection, The Ministry of Guidance was shortlisted for the Polari Prize in 2021, and my debut poetry collection Rocksong was shortlisted for the Live Canon Poetry Prize and the Polari Prize in 2022.
My pamphlet Impure Thoughts was shortlisted for the Live Canon Pamphlet Competition. My work has also appeared in Granta, Columbia Journal, and the Penguin/Vintage Anthology 100 Queer Poems.
I have performed my work at numerous literary events and festivals in the UK and internationally, including at the Royal Festival Hall, the V&A, and the ICA.
As well as writing poetry, I have also translated Persian poetry into English, particularly the works of the Modernist Persian poet Forough Farrokhzad (1934 – 1967).
